Washington – March 2016

In March 2016 my mom and I went to visit my dad in Seattle, Washington. At the time, my dad’s job was moving there so we were planning on moving – so this spring break wasn’t so much a vacation as it was searching for houses and schools and looking at surrounding areas. The only two days we had to actually tour were when we went to the west peninsula and Seattle itself.

The first day we went to Snoqualmie. They have a famous waterfall there. It was beautiful – the water was a deep turquoise. You could climb down to the bottom, but it was a big hike that my mom was not down for.

We took a drive through the western peninsula, which is mostly the Olympic National Lake. We drove around the perimeter of the lake to get to our destination, which was Westport Beach. The whole lake looked exactly how the picture looks. The Olympic Mountains has clouds weaving through them, and the water had small waves and was the same deep turquoise that the Snoqualmie River was. The lake was to my left, on my right was moss covered trees and small waterfalls.

After that trip, out destinations were Westport Beach and Forks (yes, I wanted to go there because of my Twilight days in middle school). Sadly, when we were in Forks, it was pouring rain and my pictures aren’t very aesthetically pleasing. But the picture of the ocean is from Westport – a small beach town in Washington. Which it didn’t feel like. Most of it was a lot of fisherman – not exactly a surf and sun beach. But I loved that about it, it looked beautifully sad.

We visited a small town called Duvall. It was a small mountain/logging town, but it was so quaint and cute. The pictures of the paints, tags, and records are from a small antique store we visited there. We were staying at a bed and breakfast there, which the backyard had a small pond and alpacas.

Our one day in Seattle to actually tour around, we went to a French bakery and I got the best vanilla macaron ever. The green one is a pistachio one, which my mom had. For the rest of our time in the city we toured the shopping and different parts of the city.
